Accessible Camosun Committee

The college-wide committee includes representatives from across the college and involves persons with disabilities.

Message from Dr. Lane Trotter, President of 勛圖惇蹋

Accessible campuses, education and services are critical to ensuring students and employees at Camosun succeed and thrive. The colleges highlights our commitment to breaking down barriers. However, to remove barriers we need to identify obstacles that are in the way.

Personal and observed experiences, recommendations and feedback are needed to continue moving forward in a good way. In particular, we want to hear from people with disabilities.

While progress has been made in making the college more accessible, there is still work to be done. We remain committed to social justice, equity, diversity and inclusion, and engaging with students to ensure we are developing learning opportunities that meet the needs of a diverse community.

Only by listening and learning from the college community will be able to make a lasting impact that benefits everyone.

Message from the committee

December 3, 2024

The Accessible Camosun committee has continued to meet, working to review our goals as well as share and gain perspective. Together, weve made progress in advancing accessibility across the college.

We are pleased to have student representation on our committee, which brings an essential perspective to our work. Additionally, weve implemented a feedback form to gather input from the college community and have partnered with Facilities Services and other administrative units to support accessibility audits. These efforts are vital in identifying areas for improvement and ensuring inclusive spaces for all.

Looking ahead, we aim to share our progress with the college community through an Accessible Camosun Annual Report. This report will include quantitative and qualitative measures, providing a clear overview of our accomplishments and outlining the next steps in this important work.

We remain committed to raising awareness and cultivating a culture of accessibility at Camosun, and we welcome the continued engagement of our community throughout this journey.
